What is a Business Visa in Thailand?

Essentially, the Thai Business Visa, also known as a Non-Immigrant B Visa, is offered to foreign nationals seeking to undertake investment opportunities or do business in the country. Additionally, if foreigners are looking to apply for work under a Thai company, they are also required to apply for a business visa.

Different Types of Multiple Entry Thai Business Visas

The Non-Immigrant B visa is available as either a single-entry visa or a multiple-entry visa.

The former allows you to reside in Thailand for a maximum of 90 days, while the latter allows you to stay in Thailand for up to one year (12 months). If you hold a single-entry visa, your visa will be null and void once you exit the country. However, for the multiple-entry visa, you can depart and re-enter the country as many times as needed within the one-year timeframe. Each entry allows you up to 90 days to stay in the country.

Documents that You Need to Apply for a Business Visa

To support your application for a Thai Business Visa, you need to acquire and submit the following documents:

  • Passport

The passport that you submit should remain valid for a minimum of six months after the application period and contains two blank pages for your visa.

  • Signed and completed application form

You can get the visa application form by personally going to the Thai embassy or consulate, or you can download the form through their official website.

  • Passport-size photo

The photo should have a white background and have been taken at most six months prior to the application.

  • Proof of financial stability

This includes bank statements and payslips to show that you have the means to support your stay in Thailand. A minimum amount of 20,000 THB should be presented if you’re travelling alone. However, if you plan to bring your family, your account should contain at least 40,000 THB.

  • Letter from employer

This letter of employment clearly states your designation, salary, and tenure, alongside your purpose of visiting Thailand.

  • Invitation letter from Thai company

An invitation letter is a document directed to the consulate that confirms the ability of the Thai company to accommodate the applicant for the whole duration of their stay in the country.

  • Other relevant documents

In addition to the invitation letter, you also need to present relevant documents that have been signed by the company’s directors and sealed by the official company seal. These include:

    • Business license and registration
    • Company shareholder list
    • Company profile
    • Business operations file
    • Financial statements (income tax, business tax, and balance sheets for the year prior)
    • Company office location on the map

How to Apply for a Thai Business Visa

Now that you have ample knowledge of the documents you need to apply for either a single or multiple-entry business visa in Thailand, you can proceed with the application process by following these steps:

  • Contact the Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country

When applying, you need to visit the diplomatic offices of Thailand located in your country. Otherwise, you can visit their website to check for the requirements and set an appointment. During this step, you should inquire about the application fee, specific documents required, and the submission process.

  • Collect the necessary documents

Once you’ve gathered the information you need, the next step is to obtain the necessary documents to ensure a successful application.

  • Submit your application

Depending on your location, you can submit the documents via in-person appointment or mail. If you opt to submit through the mail, you need to include your home address to receive your passport with visa after the processing period.

  • Return of Passport with visa

If you’ve applied in person, you’re required to visit the Thai embassy and pick it up personally. However, if you’ve applied via mail, the documents will be mailed directly to you.

The entire application process usually takes between 5-10 business days. Although, the duration may vary depending on the office representative, urgency, and priority. Sometimes, the procedure takes as fast as 2 days to complete.

Seize Business Opportunities in Thailand with a Business Visa

Once your application is approved and your business visa issued, you can begin your entrepreneurial and investment venture in Thailand.

While starting a business may be overwhelming the first time around, you can hire a business consulting company to help you with your company needs. A professional business services company can provide company registration services as well as payroll services that comply with Thailand payroll legislation to ensure that you and your employees are right on track.
